South Bank Tower
Client: CIT
Architect: Kohn Pederson Fox Associates
Contractor: Mace
Value: £2.5 million
Duration: 74 weeks
South Bank Tower is now a soaring landmark £130 million 41 storey redevelopment of the old Kings Reach Tower and adjacent Podium Building on London’s South Bank. The iconic tower includes 191 residential flats with floor to ceiling windows, 370,000 sq. ft. of offices and 72,000 sq. ft. of retail space.
SJE successfully achieved handover on this prestigious Mace contract in early 2016 despite a very challenging programme and logistics of a high rise refurbishment tower. We completed the design, supply and installation of doors, ironmongery, sliding pocket door installation and screens and 2nd fix carpentry to all 41 storeys including the upper Penthouse flats. We needed to work a 7 day week in the last few months to meet the challenging programme but due to our dedicated hands-on management team lead by Mark Wilson we managed to cross the finishing line with minimal defects and deliver a quality finish.
Client’s Testimonial
SJ Eastern were a new company to Mace, so there were initial concerns as to how they would perform, Throughout a very demanding fast track contract, SJE consistently performed well, always with a very ‘can do’ approach. The biggest compliment I could give was the response at all levels, be it MD, FD, PM, Site manager through to labourer was the same, no problems at any time, proactive & always to a good quality. In my role, it was nice to know that once I had asked for something to be done, the team at SJE got on with it quickly & efficiently. I would have no hesitation in working with them again, or recommending them to another site / contractor.
